Wooden floors and floors, what are the ideal woods!

wooden floors

Wood intended for parquet floors or floors must be properly dried, by exposure to air or by an accelerated process in suitable ovens.

Moisture contents, between 6% and 14%, are satisfactory. Within these limits, wood pieces are considered suitable for flooring.

Wood is a hygroscopic material, that is, its volume varies depending on the temperature and humidity of the place. Small variations in dimensions (LXCXE) of parts normally occur.

The variety in tones and veins of the same type of wood is not a defect, but one of its most striking characteristics, which makes it a noble and inimitable coating.

By its nature, there will never be pieces of the same wood with absolutely identical tones and veins.

The existence of short pieces is not a defect in wood. During manufacture, we do not choose whether the boards should be long or short.

Its length is determined according to the greater or lesser removal of natural defects during its manufacture.

After laying the floor, any amendments to the boards go unnoticed.

After installation, it is common for parts to move a little, causing gaps to open and a small unevenness that can be corrected during caulking.

Upon receiving the wood at your site, stock it evenly in a covered, dry, airy place with no direct sunlight, preferably in the place of its future installation.

Softer woods, in general the lighter ones, knead more easily. Avoid sharp impacts.

Ideal woods for floors

For floors, the ideal woods to be used are:

Ipê, Jatobá, Maçaranduba, Sucupira, Grápia and Cumaru.

These are species of high specific mass and hardness , which provide greater resistance to impacts, leaving no marks on the floor.

We advise that the installation of the wooden floor be carried out in the final phase of the work, the environment must be properly protected from atmospheric action, windows with glass, doors installed to protect against the incidence of sun or rain.

Also check that there are no signs of infiltration through the subfloor or walls.

Wall painting should be provided after installation.

The subfloor must be made with cement and washed medium sand, in a 3×1 ratio (three sand x one cement), respecting the following recommendations:, about Vinyl installation  in Jacksonville Beach

– leave it as level as possible, not needing to be rough;

– must not be burned;

– it cannot have hollow or loose parts aligned at the ends of the walls.

In this way, it will be able to install: floors, tacos, parquets, carpets, laminates, Paviflex, etc.

In the case of joists or granzepes (a piece of wood used for fixing floors , bolted flush with the subfloor with a trapezoidal shape and linear length), proceed as follows: , leveled and the spaces, fill with the mass previously described.

When the floor is ground floor or subject to infiltration, the subfloor must be waterproofed with good quality products.
